The institute was founded in 1992 on the basis of a Problem research laboratory for synthesis and linking research of semiconductor substances of complex compounds. Nowadays it is the largest scientific department of Uzhgorod National University with developed material resources and qualified staff.
The employees of institute execute scientific researches jointly with teachers and post-graduate students of chairs of physics of semiconductors, of inorganic chemistry, of applied physics. The scientific employees of institute are attracted in realization of study, reading separate special courses, preparation of term paper and degree work. The students are widely attracted in scientific activity in institute.
